Richard, I too have been experiencing hip pain in my left hip. I was writing
it off to early arthritis. if your doctor has any other insight I'd be
interested. Good luck. Vicki

Dear Richard & Vicki,
I had hip pain that my chiropractor was able to alleviate with some
adjustments & more imortantly ultrasound therapy. I don't know if it was
"early arthritis" (have that in my thumbs) but the treatments worked.

I missed Richard's post so may be off base here but I had some major hip
pain approx. 6 months ago. Dr. thought it might be related to back
problems. Anyway I ended up in physical therapy and after approx. 8 weeks
with the therapist and doing assigned exercises at home, I am glad to say I
am now pain free with no more limp
or frozen hip when in the car for long periods!!! Yea!

Noticed this thread from February and didn't see any mention of bursitis.
If the pain keeps you from sleeping on your side maybe it is bursitis
rather than sciatica, an inflammation of the bursa rather than inflammation
of the nerve.

Ultrasound treatments and leg weight exercises, as mentioned, are helpful.
Also baths and tiger balm.

I've also found that sleeping on the 'good' side with a pillow between the knees is
helpful after a long day at the wheel. 'Nita

Eleanora,

I was one who replied to this thread siting sciatica. After 3 months of
physical therapy, I didn't get any better. I went to an orthopedist who
rather quickly diagnosed bursitus, treated me for it, and voila! I am a new
man.
