Taking off for NC to see middle son, then youngest-a metal =
sculptor-on the way home. (Can hardly wait to see his new 7ft =
figurative sculpture and take lots of digital shots for him!) Then to =
Paris to see oldest son via Ireland. So it's sign off, Clayart, lest I =
clog computer space with clay messages. =
Update on use of Olympus 3030 for those who asked me to keep in touch =
about the new camera. I have been taking pictures of very small pots =
and close up details of other things. You have to be careful to keep =
the camera (on macro mode) at least 8" from the subject, but then you =
can crop the photo afterwards to fill the frame. It's amazing =
technology, and I love it! If you are taking quickie shots which do =
not have to be perfect, it's possible to use existing artificial light =
and have some really decent results. The color has been quite accurate =
under a lot of conditions. I just sold a raku pot on e bay (not at a =
great price, but it had been hanging around for a long time, and I =
wanted an e-bay experiment). The two views of that pot were great, esp. =
considering the fact I'd taken them on the dining room table with just a =
piece of cardboard as backdrop and (as I recall) overhead chandelier =
lighting and some indirect lighting. One of these days I'll have to =
try some basement studio shots for another test. You can tell I'm a =
satisfied customer for the Olympus 3030. =20
OK, off to North Carolina now, and so long for a while, Clayart. =
Cheers, CNC
