Dear Martin, and all...

If memory serves, the dreaded 'prions' are not considered to be got rid of
at conventional 'heats', as occasioned in 'composting' or in 'Cooking' or in
'roasting'.

They are very tough and mysterious little arrangements...much more so than
'Viruses' or 'Protein'.

Anything short of where carbon is 'cooked' away, is probably, prudently,
'iffy'...

'Autoclaves' are not 'hot' enough...the temperatures at, or under which
'bone-meal' is produced...are not 'hot' enough...

'Pasteur' would have found this quite interesting, I expect!..passionately
'so' perhaps.
And so ought we all.

Only now, I would suppose him to proverbially 'roll-over' in his
grave...(even to a resemblence to a 'Dervish')with so much terrible nonsense
afoot with 'germs' and 'all' these days...So much 'Science', so little
'application' IN the present 'facts-of-life'...wait 'till gool old 'Mexico'
starts shipping 'beef'.

....the 'Trojan Horses' abound...

O!...boy!
What a ride!
To be so 'blessed' AND 'cursed' as to get to 'see' THIS ignonomy and
senility of Nations.

Come April 15th., we should all 'give' heartily...

Send a helmonth 'egg', tremetodae, or 'prion' to one's 'congressman'...
Afterall, THEY say, it is 'good enough' for you...for 'us'...for 'the
people'.

And so it is.

Yes?

You may be right about 60 degrees burning out these nasties,
but I observed large windrows of composting material, including sheep's
heads, being prepared as the food for the old cows of the UK national herd
in 1987, just when BSE began.
It was on a hill top site which a Dutch "farmer" was using to fatten up
those sick and old cattle that were sent to him by our Ministry of
Agriculture from all over the UK.
It is my view that the Ministry knew then that some or all of these cattle
were infected with BSE and wanted a way of clearing it out secretly.
The "farmer" fed these cattle for 10 weeks, on mush, which had been
composed. Composting reaches a fairly high temperature.
The resulting cattle were shipped on hook and hoof to France and Germany
from his abattoir in Boston (England).

Where did France and Germany get BSE from?
Was the organism destroyed in the heat of composting?
If it could be destroyed by ordinary heating, then why are our BSE cattle
dealt with in special incinerators?
There are still a lot of questions that need an answer.
But the general public does not care and still eats beef and meat.
