blowing up your microwave...

I have a thing called a Tortilla Steamer – got it years ago, and have made
several in the meantime for others. Basically, terra cotta, shallow dish
with lid, inside has 3 or 4 concentric ridges on bottom of dish. Glazed
outside, not inside. Instructions with the thing originally said to run top
and bottom under water, completely wetting (can’t remember if there was
actually a soaking time given), place tortillas inside, put on the lid and
heat in microwave on high for 2 minutes. Works like a charm. No burned
fingers taking it out, no explosions, nice soft, warm, fluffy, moist
tortillas. (If I can’t find the “warmer” I wrap the tortillas in a damp tea
towel and zap for a minute or two).
On that note, think I’ll trundle into the kitchen for some salsa to go with
‘em.
Wish I were in Mexico.
