I use Highwater stoneware clays and my Shaner Clear and Franks Clear glazes craze. I apply it very thin and fire to ^9 -10 ox in electric kiln. I "fire down" to slow the cooling after reaching temp.I understand that the problem can be solved by altering the clay body, but I don't want to make clay. I have read that adding silica or alumina to the glaze can help. I have also considered adding strontium carb.  I want to make some glaze tests but I would love to get some advice first. How much should I add? What is the best addition? Maybe someone has a better clear recipe they would share?

Lisa, did you try to bisque a little higher? I do not know your clay, but to
my understanding the most common reason why one have difficulty with clear
glazes, is because the glaze do not expand and shink along with the clay. If
your clay shrink more than the clay,(which will happen if they are not custom
made for each other), this problem will come up. So try to bisque a little
higher (^07-06) to get most of the shrinkage out of your clay.
My glaze recipes are in my studio right now, but I am more than willing to
share my ajusted recipe from South Africa to USA clays with you. Just let me
know.
