Dear friends,
I have made several marbleized and slipware pieces which include a
dark brown slip: ^04
redart clay 100
manganese dioxide 1
iron Oxide 3

When I glaze the piece, the glaze goes into a bubbly spit only over the dark
brown slip or it causes a ghost. Here are some of the glazes I've tried at
cone 04:
Ian's Clear
FG-5
Duncan's IN 1001, Envision
SN 351
Duncan's Super Clear 2000
W 220 Transparent Satin
123
Lithium Transparent
Soldner's Transparent
Clear Base #5
Clear Base #6

Only one clear turned out o.k. That was Leslie's 204 Transparent Matt. I
called Leslie's Ceramics and it had lead in it. It's no longer made and they
don't have the recipe.
Please send me any suggestions for a clear which will avoid the bubbles!
Thank you!
