Does anyone know if there is some sort of insulating blanket or product =
that could be put OVER an electric kiln, to slow down the cooling?

Marianne there is a fiber blanket made ... I think it may still be in
ceremics monthly want ads.... use to run every month .... I'm sure there
are other companies that make this fiber blanket also... I have 5-6
layers of it ontop of my gas kiln arch and I cut a piece for my electric
kiln too.... not sure how much it slows it down on the electric one but
it does help a little... I put it on at the end of the firing as I need
the holes open during firing as it has a kiln vent on bottom.... it may be
an exercise in futility but hey I had it available ergo I used it...
hope this helps I"ll look up the address if you need me to do this for
you.. think Lois Clark was the contact person and somewhere in east Tn
was the town... ( all this from an ad in CM ) cat jarosz
