There are spots remaining in the DON DAVIS WORKSHOP scheduled for Monday,
March 26 & Tuesday, March 27 in Climax, NC (just NE of Charlotte).

Don Davis is a well known ceramic artist & will present a
demonstration/workshop at the Goat Lady Dairy in Climax, NC. Don is a
resident of NC & a professor of ceramic art at a nearby college. He recently
published WHEEL THROWN CERAMICS by Lark Books & his work is featured in CLAY
TIMES, April 2000 issue. Don's work is rich & beautiful to behold. Don's
focus will be on the composition of art forms, combining thrown, slab &
handbuilt pieces. He will also present information on his glazes & firing
techniques. It promises to be a great deal of fun & sharing.

The Goat Lady Dairy is a magic place known for their gourmet dinners &
fabulous exotic cheeses they produce. The chefs at the dairy will prepare
dinner on Monday evening for us to enjoy along with Don's slide presentation.
Then on Tuesday, we will enjoy a lovely lunch before we leave for NCECA or a
visit to Seagrove, NC (between the dairy & Charlotte).

The $90 cost of the workshop includes the meals. Registration is limited.
We have detailed information on area hotels, B&B's, maps, etc. Please call
Vicki Katz at 713-880-8157 for more information/questions or mail your
non-refunable registration to 2703 Nicholson Street, Houston, TX 77008-2026.

Vickie,
Probable can't paticipate directly but for my money Don Davis is one of the
best potters in the U.S. today. I attended a workshop of his in Orlando a
few years ago and my wife and I were fortunate enough to visit his studio
2-3 years ago. Not only is he a terrific potter but he is a wonderful
person.. If anyone gets a chance to attend his workshop _JUMP AT THE
CHANCE..

It is time to finalize your plans for NCECA.

On Monday, March 26 & Tuesday, March 27 we are having a workshop with Don
Davis in Climax, NC ( NE of Charlotte ). Don Davis, of the Asheville area of
North Carolina, will focus this demo/workshop on combining wheel
thrown-slab-handbuilt pieces & the title of the workshop is COMPOSING IN
CLAY. You can see samples of Don's work in his book WHEEL THROWN CERAMICS by
Lark books or the April issue of Clay Times. Don's work is dramatic &
rhythmic. In addition to the demo, Don will host a slide presentation for us
on Monday evening & discuss his firing & glazing techniques.

The workshop will be held at the famous Goat Lady Dairy. This is a family
farm that makes the best goat cheeses & serves gourmet meals during the year.
We will have our workshop in their "barn" which is not really a barn at all
but a lovely meeting - gathering room with a big fireplace which is adjacent
to the milking & cheese making rooms. The dairy will prepare dinner for us
on Monday evening & lunch on Tuesday.
Please see their web page: www.goatladydairy.com.

The cost of the workshop in $90 (non-refundable) & that includes the meals.
Registration is limited. This workshop is being held in rural NC and the
closest town is Asheboro, where most people have over-night reservations. It
is very close to Seagrove, NC - home of aprox. 90 potters, a unique town &
one well worth visiting. We have people from ALL over the US registered for
the workshop already. Don is wonderful, the location is delightful - sounds
like a recipe for fun!

Please call Vicki Katz @ 713-880-8157 for more information or you can use the
email above. To register, send your check, made out to Vicki Katz-DDW, c/o

Time to finalize plans was quite a while ago, in order to get the cheapest
fares, book rooms before they were all gone. Next time let us all know of
the workshops before we get down to the wire and flights are already booked,
etc.,.
