Folks, my teacher, Tatsuzo Shimaoka, will be in Minnesota in March 2001,
for a show opening at Northern Clay Center (I had studio space and fired
there) and to give a lecture as a part of the Regis Master's series. You
can see the full information at the link below.

I just thought it might be a nice extended weekend for some
ClayArt folks. Snow might be gone by then, but it might not be too. ;^)

I've seen the pieces for the show. Actually, I rubbed two of
the Yohen chamber jars from the last Noborigama firing, each for a day and a
half (good way to get to know a pot!) :^)

The lecture will take place Saturday, March 3, at
2 pm in the Pillsbury Auditorium of The Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
Admission to the lecture is free. The event is co-sponsored by the MIA and
underwritten by a generous grant from The Regis Foundation.

Mr. Shimaoka will also attend the opening of the one-man exhibition of his
work at Northern Clay Center, which will open Friday, March 2, 2001. (see
story above.)

2001 REGIS MASTERS REUNION

The final event of the 2001 Regis Masters weekend will be a reunion of the
previous Regis Masters. While all have been invited, some, we know, will be
unable to attend because of schedule conflicts. We expect that about half of
the previous participants will attend; a final list will be available in
late January. The reunion will be at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, on
Sunday afternoon, March 4, 2001, from 1 to 4:30 pm. There will be two
sessions, as we divide the returning Masters into two groups for informal
conversations among the artists and with the audience. The afternoon is
scheduled as follows: 1 pm to 2+ pm - discussion 1; 2 pm to 2:30 pm - break;
2:30 to 3:30 pm - discussion 2; 3:30 to 4:30 pm - reception. Both
discussions will take place in the Pillsbury Auditorium, and the reception
in the MIA Fountain Court.
