Paragon is holding kiln maintenance seminars at the Mesquite, Texas
factory. These seminars are open to anyone wishing to learn more
about kilns.

Basic: February 16 & 17, 2001

Basic: May 18 & 19, 2001

Advanced: March 23 & 24, 2001

Basic Seminar: $150.00

Basic electricity, kiln electrical installation; using the
multi-meter; switch replacement and types of switches; electrical
troubleshooting; element replacement; pyrometric cones; basic types
of firing and firing records; Kiln Sitter operation and
calibration; moving a kiln; SnF & TnF troubleshooting.

The basic seminar includes separate Paragon and Duncan service
manuals in three ring binders and hands-on parts replacement.

Advanced Seminar: $195.00

Single and three phase wiring; kiln electrical installation; using
the multi-meter; the 4-way rotary, 3-way rotary and infinite
control switches; element replacement and troubleshooting; basic
types of firings; Kiln Sitter troubleshooting, repair, rebuilding
and calibrating; pyrometric cones; SnF & TnF diagnostics; advanced
ohmmeter instruction.
The advanced seminar is more hands-on than the basic and covers
replacing parts and rebuilding kilns brought by students.

Meals, Airport Pickup, Hotels

As a seminar student, you are a VIP guest at Paragon. We furnish
lunches on both days and dinner the first evening. The seminar is
an exciting way to meet new friends.
If you arrive before 8:00 p.m. the day before the seminar, we will
pick you up at Love Field or D/FW International Airport. Please
call ahead with flight number, arrival time and airport. We will
take you to the airport between 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday or 9 and 12
a.m. Sunday.

We will pick up students from the offices of the following hotels
at 7:30 - 7:45 a.m. each seminar morning and return them at the end
of the day:

Tools

Security at some airports will refuse tools in carry-on baggage.
Tools are not permitted on some international flights. If in doubt,
check with your airline.

The following tools are required at the advanced seminar:
volt-ohmmeter, case tightener (you can purchase a tightener here),
hacksaw blade, fine grade emery cloth, Vice-grips, needle-nose
pliers, diagonal cutter pliers, snap ring pliers, 1/8” slotted
screw driver, 1/4” slotted screw driver, 1/4” socket driver, 3/16”
socket driver, and electrician's crimping tool.

Directions to the Paragon Plant

If you are driving, take the Town East Blvd. exit off Highway 80.
This is east of downtown Dallas, or 1 1/2 miles west of where
Highway 635 crosses Highway 80 in Mesquite. We are a block south of
Highway 80 on Town East Blvd.
