Alisa and Claus Clausen on fri 8 dec 00

Interesting and likeable about this frit for me is that it tends to =
smooth out glazes, although
sometimes it does make them glossier than the original receipe. I have =
recently tested numerous
receipes that call for G.B, with this frit as sub, mostly in the glazes =
where colemanite=20
sub. failed (made glazes too dry or matt). This frit melts at 700c and =
is listed as a=20
raku frit, as Ivor correctly observed when seeing the analysis.

I just unpacked a kiln with this frit used in Ron Roy's satin matt. =
Everytime
I use that glaze and it works like it does for me tonight, I say many =
thank yous
to Ron. The satin matt is semi gloss than can go all gloss if fired to =
high,
but usually, like today, has the exact surface I want, a clear semi =
gloss.
I say semi gloss, not semi mat, because it leans more to a gloss with =
some shine,
but not glassy. In the firings I have made, I have seen this glaze as a =
true transparent
matt with some milkiness if really a heavy drip or overlap, to what I =
have today 70/30 mat/gloss,
to a shiny gloss when the kiln fires hot.

I am satisfied with this glaze, so as far as "As the Wheel Turns", will =
we ever find a=20
good cone 6 clear? David, cancel the show for the next season, the glaze =
has been=20
found at least in one studio.

Best regards,
Alisa in Denmark
