Ok you clay artists, it was a joke!! Not everyone has gobs of space. I'm
sure someone here will come up with a new vertical slab roller and charge
us all big bucks. And guess where they got the idea?

Your idea may not be too far-fetched. I know of one ceramicist that has a
home-made "Murphy Bed" slab roller, which folds up onto the wall, after he
uses the device. The slab roller stands on the floor when in use, and is out
of the way, when it's not needed. A series of pulleys and counterweights
lifts the slab roller from the floor to it's resting position, and vice-versa.

That has some interesting possibilities for saving floor space.
