Here is an interesting link to six nice little teapots. The
text claims these are "FDA approved". Has anybody ever
heard of getting your teapots approved by the FDA? I assume
it's because of the "seasoning qualities" of the clay?

Good Afternoon to All ,

Ms Sylvia Shirley ,

you should ask this of Monona Rossol .

I have been chatting of-list with Jon Singer [ I owe you a
letter ] and Monona Rossol .

I have read much about Yi Xing . I was more interested in
before 1850 Yi Xing , but I needed to touch one or two.
Obviously , I couldn't sell my house and buy one by a
Master , so I settled on the best of the worst .

Thus far , I have obtained -
[ 1 ] hand built body , but mould made handle and spout .

[ 2 ] Mould made body , handles and spout .

[ 3 ] Mould poured .

All were sold to me as Yi Xing and " Real Zisha Clay !! " .

[ 1 ] Arrived lightly waxed , with "old tea leaves " inside ,
and fungus [ obviously genuine - Not ].

[ 2 ] Arrived waxed , and waxed with black wax or shoe
polish [ came off in my hands when I poured in hot
water ] . Last pot had a wax and acrylic finish - lightly
blackened .
[ This is when I spoke to Monona Rossol . ]

[ 3 ] This took the cake -- just poured .

Yi Xing is supposed to be 3 to 5 % porous - to absorb the
tea particles , scent and other organics . [ Another Monona
Question ]

[ a ] Yi Xing is also showing up in Blue Bodies , slipped or
solid ?
What is the body's colourant ?
--------- Cobalt or Zirconium Vanadium ?
[ Another Monona Moment ] How does this affect the tea ?
Porous Body - noted .

I would say be careful , a good deal of those pieces may not
be Yi anything .

When last seen , Khaimraj had the waxed and blackened wax
pots in large pots [ very large ] of boiling water .
[ Before Jon Singer advised the gentler - steaming ]
Sadly , I have to boil . The wax and colour floats off and cools
at the top . The acrylic at the bottom in sheets .

I am treating these pots as potentially dangerous [ the black
wax , ones ] and can never be used for making tea .
The b.wax was to hide the very shoddy finish .

Buyer Be Aware .

>From - Khaimraj

* They seem to be grinding the lid to fit the teapot , always
these grinding marks .....

It is time to get the crap off the market. I will make one further check
and, if this is true, file a consumer fraud complaint in the State of
California.

For Bonita Cohn: are you close enough to this company to make a check on
it, as I will not be in San Francisco until just after the that dance
called "election day"?
