Dear Bob Ross Marcia Jeff Snail(?) and the other whose mail I dropped.

The deed is done and, although there were a few howlers, It worked.
Thanks to your advise not a hint of an air bubble. I had not completely
forgotten every thing but it was only with your reminders that I had some
confidence that the job would go ok.

We only made working molds direct from the model

We prepared the first poring for 130 plaster and I said " we used to use
concrete weights to support the shuttering" as I put a couple of bricks
round.
After the collapse, we managed to make up a second batch of
plaster before the first poring went off - but what a mess . Thankfully we
had new plaster.

The student I am helping is an author and a lady of refined taste . I
have never heard her use such language - after she forgot to soap the second
mold. However it came away without too much difficulty.

It all came apart and fitted back together well. The job does not have
the crisp and slick look of a mold made up by someone who knows exactly what
they are doing but it is tidy enough . The acid test will be next week when
the porcelain slip goes in it.

I have a suspicion we got away with a decent job because the plaster was
so fresh.

To conclude Benita feels, that if she does get some of the models she
makes cast professionally ( master molds), she will appreciate the skill
involved and won't resent the money paid , and she will be able to make up
the working molds with confidence herself.

Thanks again. Could not have done it with out you.

Regards from Paul Taylor

Ps English spellers read mould for mold. I am using the American
spelling out of respect to Spelltools which can be downloaded for free. The
program has plug-ins for all other programs.
