modifying a commercial glaze

Dear clayarters:
I am currently using a Spectrum glaze (Clear satin) that I like and it seems
to fit my clay body (Standards white 181) ^6
If I brush it on it is fine but when I tried dipping, which is my preferred
method for my little sculptural pieces, It puddled too much in the
indentations and carvings and obscured them.
I think it is too viscous. Is there a simple way to make it less so? Or
should I give up on it for dipping and find a recipe for satin clear and make
it from scratch?
Any thoughts are appreciated.

I use a small paint brush that I have given a punk hair cut and simply
brush out the excess after the pot has dried.Rhonda
