Hi all in CLAYART-land.

I could use a little help with some informal research for some consulting=

work I am doing. I am involved in working with a coop potters group whos=
e
landlord has suddenly decided to evict them after a very long term
relationship. Along with other professionals, I am helping to defend the=
ir
case to remain there. =

So on to the two questions to which I need some "survey "responses:

1.) Have you yourself experienced first hand an explosion, electric shoc=
k,
fire, refractory melt-down or collapse, major control malfunction (flame
safety, kiln sitter, high limit, or computer controller), or even a "clos=
e
call" on one of these which was related to either a gas kiln installation=

or an electric kiln installation? Please briefly describe the type of
kiln (gas / electric) and the situation that developed?

2.) On your PROPANE fired gas kiln (have to limit the responses to
this..... no natural gas fired kiln info needed), do you utilize a
so-called BASO type valve with a thermocouple for primary flame safety (o=
r
equiv.) or do you utilize electronic type flame proof utilizing an
ultraviolet scanner (or equiv.)?

Unfortunately I can't really use the "I know a friend who talked to someo=
ne
he knows that had an electric kiln start a fire " type of responses. =

Second and third hand won't work for what I need. This has to be first
hand stuff. If it was a friend's kiln AND you were a DIRECT witness to
the situation or the result (went and saw the mess, were there when it
happened, and so on) , that is great. If your friend just told you about=

it....... not useful.

PLEASE....respond by email OFF-LISTdirect to me at JBaymore@compuserve.co=
m
so as to not clutter the CLAYART list up with what is more private intere=
st
stuff. If anyone is interested in what I find out from this informal
"survey"..... please email me. I'll eventually post a synopsis to CLAYA=
RT
if there is enough data obtained and also interest to warrant that.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Best,

......................john
