How about asking our clay suppliers to come up with a substitute for ball
clay? Sam Cox at Spinks Clay (scox@spinksclay.com) told me they could do
it - we need to let them know we want it.

Well, that's good. A substitute for ball clay would solve *this* problem. I
believe what Jim was saying, and also what I feel, is that there is no end
to the flood of newly discovered health hazards.

In fact, I'm beginning to think life is hazardous to one's health. Certainly
living on the earth is. So we get rid of ball clay. Good idea. We should
find a substitute--I agree. However, what about all the other stuff out
there we don't even know about? Because there *is* other stuff. Plenty of
it. I'd bet my life on it. So how are we going to protect ourselves against
that?

I'm not saying to do nothing about hazards we've learned about. I'm saying
we can't escape hazards, so let's position ourselves to be able to fight
back by keeping our bodies healthy.
