Hi Vince,
I have no soft bricks to saw up into shims. Not one. Would it be possible to
achieve the same end by forming small slabs of clay, bisque firing them and
using them in place of soft brick pieces?
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Carol

Carol -
I expect that would work as slick as can be. I'd roll out coils, let them
firm up a bit, and then cut them into little slices 1/4" thick. Lay the
slices down flat, and thack them lightly with the flat of your hand in order
to round off the edges a bit. These should work great, and they should last
indefinitely.
Best wishes -
- Vince
