Hello Martin Howard (urbaniste, potier & esp=E9rantiste),

I am not an expert in glaze crazing but
I can not understand why maltvinegar would
make your glaze craze if it was used at
room temperature.

"At 4pm I half-filled an uncrazed 3% copper green glazed bowl with
maltvinegar.
By 9.30pm the bottom half of the inside of that bowl was completely craze=
d.
The upper part was unaffected".

Martin,

Here's my theory. Some glazes hide crazing very expertly. I have had crazed
glazes where I couldn't see the defect with a magnifying glass until the
surface got a little dusty. I think, since the glaze is heavy on copper,
that the copper leached more from the crazed areas, thus enabling you to
pick them up more clearly.
