general about glaze tests

This batch of glaze tests had a dual purpose for myself. I wanted to =
see how the glazes behaved on rougher textures, with a view to=20
some larger forms I am throwing with heavily grogged body, 20% 0-1mm =
grogg.

Also, to test G.B. glazes with direct subs. of Colemanite. In the =
results, we will see that some will and some will not.

>From nothing more than trying to make an observation of what works and =
what does not, it seems the following.

Receipes that contain 20% or less G.B. did well with the sub. of =
Colemanite.
Receipes over that did not, they were dry or dull.
Reciepes with between 20 and 30% G.B. did better when subbed with =
Colemanite, plus an added flux such as cobalt.

I may be totally off the mark, but from these tests, it gives me the =
impressions that subs. of Colemanite over 20%,=20
require an additional flux. I would like to hear if I am warm or in =
antartica about this observation.

Hope there is something amonst this batch you can use.

Note that the Turquoise did horribly in this second test under different =
conditions. On the positive, there were a few
good subs. with Colemanite. Tom Buck says the Colemanite should be =
screened for any large particles, as in the
Turkish mines, it is contaminated with gypsum.

Best regards,
Alisa in Demark

Our town, Aabenraa, is on the Map (again). Jesper Bank brought home the =
Gold, for the second time. He also has a bronze.
Match race, sailing. He is our neighbor and my daughter is also =
impressed that Mikkel's father (Jesper's youngest son)
is a "genuine hero". We are all very proud of him and happy for him. =
Flags and lad people everywhere, with parade, open cars (not usual in =
our climate!),
Mayor, kids and marching bands. =20
