I've searched the archives for a recipe for a high fire castable slip and
came up empty, I posted last week and got no replies, does this mean there
is no such thing??? Or did my post get missed in all the limericks? Any help
I can get on this would be wonderful as I am trying to find this for a
couple of older gentlemen in my pottery class. Thanks, Kimi

Kimi, did you look under kilns in the archives? It may be in that section
under bricks or miscellaneous.

June

Listen, "Wolff's",
In the handbook of Val Cushing you will find many many different
claybodies for all temperatures.

Hi Kimi,

Wouldn't it be jsut as easy to go to your local pottery supplier and
purchase a stoneware or ceramic slip? Or take your own high fire clay, water
it down, mix it up and pour. I suppose it all depends on how large a project
you have.

I just searched the Clayart archives using the words _cone 10
casting slip_ and found around 10 posts. One has a recipe and
there are some comments on the recipe in the other posts. The
recipe is in a post from 1998. I thought that using the word
_castable_ might have mucked things up, since that would point
towards kiln building castable. Check it out. You have to give
the Archives TIME when doing a search. I type in the search
words, hit enter, and then go have a cup of tea, and I have a
cable modem! so have patience...
Good Luck,
Jennifer
