I noticed the post in regards to the pots for reproduction purposes. It i=
s
good they have offered you a royalty on the Pots. I would take their offe=
r I
believe.
In our town in Opeliak Al. we have such a business and I recently was tal=
king
to an attorney friend of mine who was telling me of a local artist that i=
s
making the originals for this company and the artist is paid point blank =
a one
time fee. We both agree that this is not that good of an offer unless it =
was a
huge fee that could cover a lot of royalty earnings over a period of time=
=2E
It is always a safer bet to look for long hauls over short ones because y=
ou
are going to be producing anyways where the cash flow sometimes is not al=
ways
on target. =

Now - In ending I must include some additional things that I have been se=
eing
here that carries with it a bit of strong willed spirit. They are a lot o=
f
bickering over odd subjects and little educational topics getting drawn o=
ut to
maximum non educational banishings and slurs.
I recently asked about some borate subs to replace GB. I got one Great Br=
itian
remark. And then I asked about Murray's borate or Laguna or Gillispie (?)=

borates and gave my findings in regards to MB. I got one other remark fro=
m the
official Supplier of MB telling me all sorts of ways I can use the materi=
als
if I try. =

I may not have been a potter all my life but most of my growing up I have=
been
involved with chemistry and did own an international company that manufac=
tured
artists products. (Sorry but I suppose credentials have to be placed here=
).
Also I am over 40.. Yuk! Anways - I have seen some very good responses in=
many
ways for many things but I have yet to hear from anyone that can say they=
have
used this or that recipe using MB or Murray's borate as it stands without=

re-totals or trading off in order to get the results it is marketed to gi=
ve.
Ron Roy has been a grand person to me on a personal level and I commend t=
his
man for being who he is. It is he and a few others who have really placed=

themselves high on my list of people I can trust and understand and it co=
mes
straight forward without all the bells and whistles.
I also look forward to John's post off the Frog Pond pottery ward and Tom=
Buck
and Vince and several other potters who have offered alot of deep trainin=
g and
gut reactions towards our questions.
Everyone has the right to make the choice of reading or deleteing a subje=
ct
once they see it does not fit their needs. Please keep in mind that somet=
imes
they are a few folks who do come here that have no idea as to what anythi=
ng
might be such as MB and GB and LB and the rest of the shortened terms we =
use.,
However, we are certain to bring more positive actions into this group by=

explaining the rolls or materials we use and give results such as Alisa i=
n
Denmark (Is that the right place?) to each other as we find them. (See To=
ny
Hansens Request)
I want to say I should move on down the road and not say anything at all =
since
most all of us will sooner or latter get a lashing here. I do however sta=
nd
firmly planted and wish we could work closer than we do sometimes.
ADHD - One that caused more complaints and hurt feelings. Some know about=
it
and I teach where we have a few of the children with it. They are people!=

Thats all we need to know. Once we look at that we can add them to our li=
st as
achievers and let them know they are loved regardless. they enjoy the pot=
tery
work they do and it does take a little more effort. Well spent time!
Wigs - Rugs or whatever you want to call them is up to you. I have seen s=
ome
bad ones that you can't help but spot and some good ones that you can't s=
pot
unless they tell you. However they are just as important to those who wan=
t
them as the last glaze you wrote that gave you a warm feeling inside. Van=
ity
is a personal choice but in no way does it decide the persons abilities i=
n
life.
All this writing is sure to get me some fan mail. I do hope however one p=
erson
out there will find a tid-bit of good information and return the same in =
kind.
And yes we are eccentric and egotistical people but we still are born to =
live
out the pains of life with or without GB. Once we find the cure another
illness will start. Lets hope the Frit makers stay put for awhile!

Respectfully,

William Edwards

Something to be considered as well; if at all possible have such contracts
specify that the work is NOT "work for hire," and that use of the form is
licensed conditional upon payment. A clause, or understanding for that
matter, indicating that the originals are "work for hire" may transfer the
copyright to the purchaser, leaving the creator with no legal interest other
than the agreed upon payment, including no further rights the use of his or
her own creation!
