picasso/ just a thought!

It is odd that one would be down on Picasso for not throwing his own pots
that he decorated.
I assume from the information on Hamada that he could also be held guilty
for this same crime, if it is one. Regardless of the fact that Hamada could
throw, market demands dictated a unique solution for his work. I believe
that he had a team of potters making the work. Further, those large
festival bowls were thrown and trimmed by, I believe, his son.

Why we are at it, lets vilify those Greeks also. Very few of those potters
are known to history. It is those danged vase painters who got all the
credit. Using the current definition, they must suck also!

The thing that really pisses me off is that both of these artists had
someone else make and wedge the clay. That's not fair at all!

I wonder what if any influence Picasso has actually had directly on
Ceramics. I can see Matisse and Picasso’s aesthetic influence on the early
works of Voulkos and in particular Autio.

Is there anybody out there who would like to co-curate a show with me on the
subject? I think it sounds fun. UTPB has a great gallery space and we
could see if the show could travel to some other locations.

Peace,
Xris

I wonder if Betty Woodman was influenced by Picasso's work?
