Carrie - your last three paragraphs are the best artists statement I've
ever read.

---------------quoted below------------
Carrie Jacobson
Bolster's Mills, Maine

It is my hope to become a great American potter, with work that reflects and
grows from this life here. It is my hope to make pots that have the vigor
and muscle of this country, optimism, power, the rhythm of rock and roll -
but in the background, deep in the background, nearly inaudible whispers of
Slavic dances, German waltzes, Japanese and Indian scales and harmonies,
African drums, Scottish bagpipes, all that has come together in our American
heritage.

It is my hope to make pottery that has the quiet power of New England's
mountains, the rhythm of the Atlantic, that speaks of the space and scale of
the western deserts, and the star-filled span of the night-time desert sky.

This is where I've been. This is who I am. This is what I want in my
pottery.
