Two words: Hockey Puck.

Alternatively, Estrin in Vancouver, BC, makes a drive wheel for their
kickwheels
that goes for about $45 Cdn (last I looked), which works out to about
$25 US.
Not sure of the shaft size, but they will know. Contact Estrin at
604-731-5371.

Hello All,

I am writing because our school has 10 AMACO motorized kick wheels and we
need at least 5 drive wheels for these - they suffer heavy use and we have a
few drive wheels nearly down to the metal. These are rubber clad aluminum
wheels designed for a flat ground 1/2 inch shaft. AMACO sells them for an
exhorbitant $60 each and I am sure someone must've come up with a cheaper
solution - that'd be $600 for just the drive wheels
for our 10 wheels!
If anyone has a suggestion (not including teaching our students to kick)it'd
be greatly appreciated!

Hi Andrew,

I have a motorized kickwheel that uses a hockey puck as a drive wheel.
Cheap & sturdy.

Patti
In chilly southern Quebec where frost is expected tomorrow, early, even for
us.
