I second David's thoughts on the new book by Daryl Baird "The Extruder
Book"...
I like it better then the Lark book ... but you gotta have both ... world

Daryl Baird's "Extruder Book", published by the American
Ceramic Society, is finally available. It's about 3 pounds
of material that covers just about everything that has
anything to do with clay extrusion for potters. I rate it
as a 'must have'.
If you've never used an extruder it will get you started
and show you what extruders are available, or how to
build your own. You'll see several different ways to install
your extruder and how to make your own dies.
If you already have an extruder and some experience, you
will be inspired to try some new things. There are hundreds
of examples of the many different ways potters use extrusions.

If you have been reading Clayart for a while, you will
recognize many of the contributors to the book. When he
was first planning the project, Daryl asked for input from
Clayart, and obviously many responded.
There is even an 'ad' for Clayart, and how to sign up, on
the page facing the title page.
Congratulations Daryl and ACERS for a job well done.

I tried to order the Baird Extruder Book from Amazon and they tell me that it
has not been published yet. Where did you buy your book? Thanks, Biljana in

'The Extruder Book' is published by the American Ceramic
Society, and you can order it directly from them. See the
ads in the most recent Ceramics Monthly magazines.
Also available at the big supply places, like Axner's
and Bailey's, and probably any place that carries a lot
of books about ceramics.
The book has been available for about a month - 6 weeks.

Friends,
To end the confusion The Extruder Book by Daryl Baird has been published and
is available at your favorite bookstore, clay supplier and The Potters Shop.
In fact I posted my recommendation of the book on Clayart when the book was
finally released a little earlier this summer. It's a wonderful book full of
color photos and great information. So much for Amazon.Com.
