I have retired and become a rookie potter in Tulsa Okla. I have heard of
a "Clayfest" in Manitou Colo. and a "Mudfest" in San Diego. I would
appreciate it very much if someone could let me know when these events will
occur. Thanks, Duane

Clayfest in Manitou Springs, Colorado, just celebrated its 10th year. It
happens in June, usually the 3rd or 4th Saturday, this year's was June 24th.

There was an article and pictures by me that was published in the
September/October 1997 addition of Clay Times.

Let me know if you have any other questions about Clayfest.

Hey there neighbor,
Although I don't know the dates for your clay and mud fests in Co. and
Ca. I do know that the eighth annual clayfest in Gruene, (pronounced green)
Texas will be held on October 28th and 29th. Last year was my first to see
and I won't miss any in the future. There were 35 artist from all over the
state at last years fest. You could sit on your hay bail transfixed as
potters like David Henley and Lisa Orr demonstrated on the wheel or you could
watch Randy Brodnax and Billy Ray Mangum with their "man wrestles fire" show
at the Raku kiln. All of the artist demonstrate and of course bring their
work to sell. This year I'm thinking maybe one of Mary Fisher's great houses
or one of Davids lidded jars. Or even better ...both.
Dee and Terry Buck from buck pottery hold the show on the grounds of Buck
Pottery in down town Gruen. They are very nice folks that put on a great
show. Here is last years web page URL http://www.texasclayfestival.com/
I know summer has been relentless down here this year but the hill
country is mighty nice around October. I'm looking forward to the trip up
from Houston. Hope to see you there.
