I see. =

I also have found massive differences in quality of tile from place to pl=
ace
and country of origin. =

When I was describing a tile bat system, I wanted to mention the best typ=
e of
tile to choose, but I didn't because I can't find that kind any more. I =
use
italian 1/4 inch indoor outdoor patio tiles. They are perfect and I got =
them
at a home center on clearance ten years ago. I didn't save the box being=

inexperienced with the quality issues of tile and don't know where I can =
get
any more. Lucky for me, the 60 I bought are still going strong and I hav=
e
found that bisque tiles you buy to paint on work fine, but break more eas=
ily.

Since I don't do the type of work you do, I don't face your problems, but=
I
understand. Perhaps Jonathan Kaplan could do a better job than the comme=
rcial
tile companys for individual tile needs. I don't know if he makes tile, =
but I
bet if he did, they would not have the problems you describe. =

Which comes around to product design and quality craftmanship and fabrica=
tion
again, doesn't it.

The assortment of tile for the general home owner to buy and make their
splashpan out of is much better than it was ten years ago, though. It is=

still not where I would go to get tile to look at three times a day every=
day,
but it is servicable. And most of them aren't going to be refiring it, y=
ou
hope. I think it is apples and oranges. =

I think you hit it on the head when you said that the dearth of tile is w=
hat
will keep you in business. I think you have the job security we all crav=
e...

Best to you and thanks for keeping the quality standard =

phenomenally higher than Lowe's!
