Hello Alisa
Hello glaze gurus!
I tried once while testing, small batch where the amount of B2O3 in my frit
was not high enough, to add boric acid. I know, it is a soluble material,
but since we have some nice recipes of the OLD G.B . (50% B2O3) , there is
no way to arrive to them even with the newer G.B.!!
The result was good. Of course, without knowing exactly how the original
glaze looked like except a written description..
Some of the masterpieces glazes, will go to garbage, if we will not be able
to use with these soluble materials, with their limits or unless these
groups, that are trying to renew the G.B. will bring us a solution to the
old gerstly borate!
....And do not try the colemanite, I tried it and threw 6 K"g of glaze, after
realized what it made to my shelves!
