I have been given a commission....It is a bank for a fund raiser at a
synagogue...They want it in the shape of there building which is kinda
unusal..It is a gold dome roof...I can use the cone 18 luster gold but
my kiln is in the garage and I can stilll smell it in the
house..Help..Also I finally order from Harbor Freight their Plastic on
th top quart spray gun Which is discontinued does anyone know where I
can get one similar, this is the one Tom Coleman uses..Also they want me
to make mazoas in the shape of their ark..but thats wood and I can use
iron oxide with a matt finish...Thanks in advance ....Ilene in Conn

Hi Ilene!

Have you considered using a metallic Raku glaze, and raku-firing the dome?

A friend of mine had a similar commission, from his Baptist Church. He made
the entire church in sections, so that he could high-fire/low-fire/raku as
needed, then joined the pieces with epoxy. The steeple was raku-fired with a
golden metallic glaze, to provide a shining golden glow, a request from the
pastor of the church.

There is a gold made by Amaco, it fires to ^04 or
^06.. I have never actually used it, but the picture
looks like it's worth a test tile...
