Dear Clayarters,
I am just finishing some egg forms ( involuted) and was going to just =
use white TS on as the finish..howver I have now seen Russels Pots and I =
am completely bowled
over...the blue fingertip pot is incredible not to mention the rest...It =
is a crime that I am sitting thousands of Km away and can't just pop =
over for a quick lesson or two..this has been the bane of my ceramic =
career is that even here in SA I am so far from anybody it would take me =
a day just to find a potter never mind a good one..enough whinging..I =
must admit I love the challange of working out things for myself and so =
far so good.
Let me describe our place to you ...we live in a semi-desert on a very =
beautiful mountain slope where we have at our doorstep one of the seven =
biosphere in the world..the variety of flowers are incredible..we have =
300 ha (700a For Americans) since we arrived all we have done is to take =
down all the internal fences pull out all the old fruit trees and built =
a dam...there are numerous old building on the farm I mean old like late =
18 century clay building would be beautifull to renovate into a huge =
studio ( it is my plan)...the weather is the most amazing benefit of =
this area with approx 340 days a year of good clean sunshine and fresh =
air from the Antartic...right now it is bright sunshine and the day is =
going to be 25 C in the middle of winter.....we are 2.5 hrs from our =
main markets and the airport with freight facilities ectra....what we =
would like to do is to convert this into a potters paradise where =
potters from all over the world could come to live and work and to =
rest...I forgot to mention that we are 40 min from a warm water white =
beach coastline that is just divine...called White Sands...and we are in =
the safest part of Africa..no crime very little aids cases and excellent =
wine a amazingly progressive little town called Barrydale.
If there is anyone interested in such an idea we can work on it online =
and lets do it...We would also like to have music concerts from time to =
time....
About Lustres and TS can one after bisque simply add it to the surface =
or is there some slight of hand that one has to observe?
