profile tool suggestion

I thought I might pass this idea along to all those that like a nice
shaping tool. The Jepson profile tools are very nice but being a former
woodworker I realized that molding head inserts have some very nice profiles
and they work well for feet, lips and I'm sure any other uses the profile
tool are used for.
A molding head blade is a specialized blade used on a table saw. It is a
blank that accepts a set of three identical profile inserts. These of coarse
are what you would buy. You can find them at Sears, in their catalog with the
table saw blades or at other stores that sell large shop tools. They should
cost about 10 - 15 dollars a set and since you won't need three of the same
profile you can share the idea with 2 friends and split the cost.
The draw back would be that the profile is about 1 inch wide, not as wide
as some of the tools out there but still it does a nice job. It's also a good
3/16" thick so you can keep it forever. The other nice thing is there are
many shapes to choose from.
You could always go to your local home improvement store or lumberyard a
buy a piece of hardwood trim molding cut it to your desired size then sand
the edge to a nice 45 degree angle. This should give you fine results and a
wider variation in size.
Hope this all made some sort of sense and it helps.
