Hi Friends,

The third annual Tougaloo Art Colony will be held in Jackson, Mississippi
from August 4 - 11, 2000. The ceramic workshop will be led by Patrica
Hankins who is a teacher of "The History of Ceramics" at Georgia State
University and is a studio artist who uses alternative firing methods on her
ceramic sculptures. Her class is called Mississippi Mud and Marks and is
described as using the flowers, rocks and earth of Mississippi while
exploring design, colors and textures on hand built forms. Firing Methods
such as saggar, sawdust and paper kiln will be used.

There will be concurrent classes in painting presented by Richard Mayhew and
Jere Allen, textiles presented by Dr. Doris Rogers, poetry with Gwendolyn
Mitchell and performance with Elmo Terry-Morgan.
