Hi:

According to Ian Currie you don't necessarily need to reduce to acheive the
chun blue effect. So, those of you firing in oxidation and wanting to do
chuns can take heart. Ian says that glazes with zinc oxide fired in Ox.
can produce chun blues. Semi opacity is one of the critical factors in
these glazes as well as partice size of the opacifying crystal. It's all
there in Ian's book Stoneware Glazes A Systematic Approach. He explains
the working properties of chuns in detail that is easy for any of us to grasp.
