I was very lucky to have my first experience in real clay at Henry Ford
Community College in Dearborn Michigan when they first built their new
studio, a great facility. My teacher there steered me towards Eastern
Michigan University where Suzanne Stephenson was teaching. Of course, I
wanted to go to Center for Creative Studies because it sounded like a great
place to go. I didn't really know the difference at the time, but followed
my teacher's advice. I couldn't have asked for a better experience in clay -
Suzanne Stephenson, John Loree, a great studio, visiting teachers Robert
Piepenburg, clay and glaze chemistry classes (who knew I'd have to do math!)
You have to find the right place for you. Coupled with all of the other
classes needed for a BFA, sculpture, water color, 2D, 3D, group trip to Paris
for art history, and except for the occasional literature, history classes
that I had to take, I felt like I was playing and having a ball. I wouldn't
give up my college experience, and I was older when I went to school, I
graduated at 32. I can still go to the workshops other places now, but I
feel have a great background for anything else I want to do.

With great respect for everyone on the list and I hope I got the new address
right!
