Of course whatever way you try to transfer the images to the pots will
affect the results, but what about using a half-tone silkscreen stencil to
apply oxides or stains?

I haven't tried this, but if one has access to facilities to do the photo
silkscreen, proper preparation of the materials (grinding and screening)
and appropriate medium and viscosity it could be done. (?)

What about dye transfer techniques?

How can one deal with three dimensional service in applying the image?

I seem to remember an article in CM about laser etching glaze, that would
be different...

Hope this might lead in a fruitful direction...
