yes to tiles on formica

Yes. we did this when we lived on Guam. Sand the formica to roughen it. We
used mastic to glue down the tiles, but I could also recommend the
previously discussed "liquid nails" which I have used successfully for
mosaic work. I would suggest letting it dry for several days before
grouting, since the formica is not water permeable. Grout normally. We never
had any problems with this installation, even in the tropical climate.
