masking bisqueware - another technique

I sometimes create masks for bisqueware from newspaper; using scissors
or a mat knife I cut stars, funky shapes, your imagination's your limit.
Sometimes I adhere them with some water; most of the time I just hold
them down with one hand and brush colored slip on with the other.
They're only good for one application.

This is an easy, direct way to loosen up your decoration. You aren't
limited to straight lines, but rather can create any form you fancy.

Don't try this method, however, if you are concerned about hard edges
and precision because inevitably some glaze will slip under the paper's
edge. And the wash or slip will show radiating brush strokes.
