i have never had this volcanic ash glaze tested for food safety...
but my sense is that it is a very silica rich glaze, and melts fully.
if you add other things like chromium, manganese, barium or such,
well that would be another story.
as is, it is a very nice glaze....but, others will have to test it.
i no longer use it.
