You have been undeservedly stretched out and pinned down for dissection,
and that is a shame Janet.

Much of what you said had been distorted and inflated beyond recognition.
You do well to get off the table and let these intolerable pedants "chill
out"

You clearly identified a need to archive magazine material, and
inadvertently stood on a nest of
very bitter writers.

I must say, (and I put my neck on the chopping block here), that I am
surprised contributors to craft magazines get paid anything at all! I
genuinely thought that contributions from potters would be surrendered in
the spirit of education, and the advertorial aspect of the article would
remunerate the work undertaken. I stand corrected, albeit bewildered.

There are times when we must stand back and take a long hard look at
ourselves without our clothes on and have a jolly good laugh. Who would you
be without your friends, what would you be without selling or exhibiting
anything?

Ontologically, at the deepest level of being, we should be satisfied enough
to take our work from the kiln and bury it in the garden. Grace enough to
have had joy in the making. The zen of potting is in doing it, the vitrified
bits are only a retrospect of expedition through clay.

It would be nice if this list could charge and enthuse the many contributors
who positively enjoy working with ceramics, at any level.

But the high pitched, and exacting, screaming about copyright serves only
to exclude our more gentle contributers. Let it pass Janet, I wouldn't
dignify some of the responses you have had by giving a reply, time is too
precious for that.

Must everything be written with a view to future publication!
