This won't help find anyone in the US, but when you do there might be some
useful info coming from a project running this year in SW of England.

Called HiTec LoTec, the project has brought artists/makers together with
industry. In particular, Tim Andrews did/is doing some work with a major
ceramics producer.

I'm sure he would be willing to share some of that experience.

I am looking for any academic programs where ceramic artists and
engineers work together. We are trying to start a program here at
Alfred and need to know if anyone already has something going. We are
also looking for artists (academics or not) who know a ceramic engineer
who might be interested in a summer workshop where they would work
together on a project.
