Hello all!
I started to test manganese granular. At first, I added to two batches, each
1 kg dried white stoneware, 2% of: A) 60#
B) 24#
The Ready pieces looked similar to Amaco 140.
At ^6 clear glazes turned out good and the others, not good.
I had to buy the material in the U.S. A..as they don't keep it here.
I would like to get some advises of what and how to use it. I heard that it
can be some interaction between manganese granular and zinc oxide & titanium
dioxide. In my next crystalline glaze testing I shall make one recipe that
concludes manganese, by adding the granular instead of the powdered .Yet if
any of you can help me I will be very happy! I think it can be used in
glaze, body slip????what else??
Thank you very much
Ababi

Ababi, I have used granular manganese wedged into my clay to give it brown
spots. One problem to watch out for is the foot of the item. The manganese
will melt and possibly stick to your kiln shelf at cone 6. Mia in ABQ
