Cadycal is a calcium borate material that can in some cases be
substituted for Gerstley Borate of frits. Not always, though, as it has
more alumina and silica. If you'd like an analysis, I can send you one.

My analysis for CadyCal (from the mine) has hardly any alumina or silica -
it's mostly calcium and boron.

My numbers on Gerstley Borate say it has more alumina and silica - I have 4
analysis - than Cady Cal in every case.

Ron, you're right again. (we're not surprised) I had, once again,
typed without checking the numbers. My comment was based on a
conversation with another glaze techie at NCECA who was obviously wrong.
Sorry, folks.
For those many who asked me to send them an analysis of Cadycal, here is
what I have:

B2O3 48%
Cl .1
SO3 .1
SiO2 1.0
Fe2O3 .08
CaO 28
Na2O .1
Al2O3 .2
K2O .03
MgO .3
SrO .04
Moisture 2

Some day, I'll learn not to rely totally on my memory for this stuff.
As they say, the memory is the second thing to go.

I don't remember what's first.
