I've tested the Eggplant at ^6 and ^8, as well as Emily's Purple at both
temps. The Eggplant at ^6 is pretty boring and in my experience didn't apply
evenly, but is, in fact, the color of an eggplant. At ^7-8, however, it runs
slightly and makes for a deep, matte range of purple shades breaking
lavender that it especially nice on coffee mugs shapes and such. The Emily's
Purple turned out matte, somewhat shimmery lavender for me, not what I was
hoping for, no difference really with higher temps. Also, as an aside, I
purchased the Opulence pre-mix Grape, and fired it to ^5 and then ^6, both
times it was a hideous shade of Welch's grape purple, looked uneven, and
where slightly thinner it went a really ugly pale aqua (not a pretty combo.)

On a separate topic, I have been reading all the posts about the new
moderation of the list, and wanted to throw in my two cents - I've rejoined
the list in an effort to show support for Mr. Jacobson, from whom's posts
I've learned more than I ever did or could in school. Not to in any way
discredit the wonderful Joe Molinaro, but the fact that Mr. Jacobson, along
with other clay artists like Ron Roy, Louis Katz, Kurt Wild, Paul
Lewing...etc. are there for newer potters to turn to for help, inspiration,
insight - it's worth more than my tuition was. I am so grateful for every
response I've ever gotten from them...that the new moderation may mean more
such responses is an exciting prospect.
