At the beginning of March, I attended Malcolm Davis' six-day workshop on
"Shades of Shino" at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
What a wonderful experience!

Malcolm is a terrific workshop presenter, as any of you who know him are
aware. I only wish the workshop had been twice as long. The workshop
focused on shino - discussing shino, mixing lots of tests, and firing.
We did some throwing, but the workshop was not about throwing. Malcolm
did some demonstrating, and I wish we'd had more time to work on
throwing porcelain with him. Anyone who is passionate about shino
should take a workshop with Malcolm.

The Armory Art Center is a great facility. Harvey Sadow has built a
wonderful studio - quality wheels, lots of space, lots of light. There
weren't many people from out of the area at the workshop, but Harvey (as
well as the monitors and others attending the workshop) made it
comfortable for us non-locals. I was also able to work with Harvey (and
others) loading and unloading the kiln, and enjoyed learning from him as
well. I will definitely go to more workshops there - how can you go
wrong going to Florida (from the frozen north) in March???
