Did anyone visit the millennium pot sale for the Studio Potter Network
at NCECA? I sent a pot to David Beume for the sale and never got any
kind of notice that the pot was received or even if it sold. I am just
curious. No one seems to have mentioned the sale.

I don't have any way of knowing if David's pot actually made
it to the sell, but the room had lots of donated pots and
much like the Mug sell, I believe all sold. I would be
curious to know if anyone on clayart happened to buy my
donated carved celadon pot. I bought a pot there that my
friend Andy Watson (of three pots at once Las Vegas fame)
made, He was upset that I would pay someone else for one of
his pots. I told him, "Hey, you would just give me the pot
right?" I know Andy, he wouldn't let me pay for one of his
pots if I wanted it. He wanted someone to buy the thing.
Why not me?

There seems to be a problem with the organization. I too had the same
problem a few years ago as a single participant and now our group has
dropped. I'm not quite sure what the problem is, probably poor
organization or not enough help. I rented tapes from them (in CA) and had
to return them twice because no one picked them up the first time after
almost a month. What a waste! Laura

>Hi Laura....since you had a problem with the Studio Potter Network and I am
one of the coordinators, I thought I should respond. I am real sorry you had
a problem with the video library and you are correct....that the
"organization" needs more help. Currently there are 2 of us working very
part time along with a handful of advisors who volunteer....all of us do it
because we feel committed to the idea of Networking potter groups (and
individuals);not everyone is connected electronically so we believe we fill
some purpose. We are not in it to rip anyone off or aggravate folks...and
we feel badly that you ended up feeling that way. Just to let you know..our
video librarian had done a wonderful and time consuming job for years;
recently, however, she has gone through some overwhelming personal tragedies
-not the least of which was losing her mother after a long, long illness (on
the opposite coast). This obviously doesn't change the fact that you had a
problem, but we understand that life, sometimes, gets in the way...as it did
for her. We now have a new video librarian -with much energy and enthusiasm
who seems capable of handling it all efficiently. I wondered if you might be
willing to take some time and let us know what you expected when you rented
videos and why it ended up such a hassle- we really appreciate when fellow
potters help us do things better. Again, sorry for your troubles and I look
forward to your helpful criticism. Annie Carlsson, Studio Potter Network
