Hi Ken,
You mean you are firing to 011 right, not eleven or your oil drum may be =
part of
the glaze...=21
I'll betcha then you will get some pretty cool flashing.
I just got an oil drum kiln, and I am also looking for similar effect. I =
have
reduced in the
past only 15 minutes and gotten complete reds with copper flashes. Maybe =
the
reduction
time has something to do with it? Ask Steven B. right here on the list, he =
will
tell you.
Good luck,
Alisa in Denmark

I have acheived a good reduced red by a reducing not longer really than 15
minutes.

=3EHi all, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share some
=3Etechniques on how to achieve those beautiful vibrant red copper matt or
=3Ethose luminous blue matt surfaces on raku pottery. So far I've been
=3Eusing Mark's Copper Matt from the Branfman Book. Frit 3110 10=25, Copper
=3Ecarb 90=25, Iron Oxide 5=25. I fire in a fiber lined oil drum in =
oxidation
=3Eto cone 11. Place it in post reduction for about 15 to 30 minutes. So
=3Efar I've achieved a muddy, dark purple, some bright greens (nice) and
=3Every pretty flashing. However, I would like to see if I can produce an
=3Eattractive, more uniform, red or blue. Any advise will be much
=3Eappreciated. Thank you Ken
