dannon's brantford workshop

Maid O'Mud Pottery on tue 14 mar 00

I waited until Dannon was back before writing as I knew she had clayart
turned off.

Dannon gave a wonderful 2 day presentation of her "pots within pots"
method of slab working. She answered all questions very thoroughly!
leaving none of us wondering what was going on within the thrown forms -
using cutaways to clearly show the process.

She also showed 2 different methods of creating double-walled bowls.
Thrown only; and thrown on slab. I'd never seen this done before
(either) and was awed by how simple she made everything seem.

I don't consider myself lucky to have seen her - I consider myself
smart. If you too, are smart, you will find out when she is having a
workshop near you, and attend it. I personally drove 2 hours each way
each day to see her; a truly small price to pay.

The line about the guns? From "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" CBC Monday
nights at 8:00 p.m. Greg Mercer looks straight at the camera and asks
"ever wonder why Canadians are so polite to Americans?" (pregnant
pause) "we're not stupid, they have guns!!"

For those that spoke with me Sunday - the mommie dog I rescued is doing
fine. I placed one pup, and am looking to place the other pup as well
as the mom. All are healthy (thank heavens).

Thanks again, Dannon. See you in NC!

Hi Dannon,
Still hoping to get to one of your workshops, if you ever get to
the New York area or to Virginia. Just reading your articles and the
descriptions of your workshops by those who have attended, intrigues me
more and more. Your double-walled method thrown on a slab sounds something
very new and different. Waiting with impatience to get to see you in
action.
All the best, and I hope all is well with you.
