Did the question ever came up to you that clayart is not only for gathering
or giving technical information, but also to stimulate one to think further?
Ivor please keep on throwing in questions. I do not think you asked the
question because you tried to be nasty. Ron Roy gave a good reason why he
would use a black glaze and by now you know my opinion on this.
If one question trigger another, what can be more stimulating. We are not a
group of donkeys together. We are people that touch almost every aspect of
life itself. Lets keep it that way.

Dear Antoinette:

I've seen black over porcelain and, it seems to me that, it gives a very smooth
and polished surface. I do have a recipe for a cone 10 black glaze. However,
it uses albany slip. Here it is: albany slip 90 parts. cobalt oxide 5 parts.
neph sy 5 parts. This is only useful if you have some albany, but is the only
recipe I have.

By the way, I think we are ALL doing a good job with this list, "growing"
pottery wise, and learning to mesh with each other.

Many glazes over porcelain take on a whole new rich appearance, Some people
believe in translucency, transparency, and tranquility, others like to
experiment and sample their way thru life. Thats what makes life interesting.
