Hello Clayarters! Another question for you. I have been reading
various author/artist's books on raku. Steven Branfman has a wonderful book
along with Robert Piepenburg and Tim Andrews.
Anyways - I came across an artists work in Tim Andrew's raku book
and it was absolutly beautiful. The piece had a tomato-red crackle glaze,
or so it seemed... The pictured caption said that Bob Smith had fumed the
piece but it didn't say with what. It said further on in the article that
he used ferric chloride in a lot of his pieces...

My question is - do any of you know of glaze reaction with ferric
chloride? Perhaps on white crackle? Any information or knowledge you could
pass on would be helpful!

Thanks!

- John Christensen

I have used ferric chloride on white crackle and it gives a golden
luster,-not like a copper luster and not quite gold.
